Style Snippet: Texture Clash

Thursday 15 October 2015

I ordered a fake, leather skirt from ASOS a few days ago and now its came, I knew I had to include it in a post.

I was really inspired to put a look together with a clash of texture because I think its a great way of creating a more interesting outfit. I contrasted with my fluffy, topshop jumper with the leather skirt, along with some knitwear items. It's a bit of a mismatch of textures but I think it works well because they are all neutral colours.
The jumper adds a layer of warmth to the look but also adds the texture with the fluffiness. It's this slightly, off mustard colour, if that exists? Like a rust colour thats more turned down? Anyway, I love the colour because it's more neutral and easier to wear than a really bright coloured jumper but it adds a bit of colour so that the outfit isn't all black and dark. I think these warm, neutral tones are great for the autumn, they remind me of the leaves.
I love the skirt so much because it's a more demi-matte look and I was scared the fake leather would be really shiny.   It's from ASOS but I would say if you buy it size down as the waist came up big for me and I'll have to get it taken in. Also if you are petite, it's not as short as it looks on the website!!

I do really like the clashing of textures, patterns and layers, I think it's a great way of looking put together for those lazy, cold days. Also wearing a skirt, instead of jeans, is a great way of changing things up and looking like you've spent more time sorting things out, when really tights are just more comfy than jeans ahah!

Hope you enjoyed, Sophie x
