Autumn/winter is my favourite because I love knitwear and layering up, so I thought I'd give my essential tips.
1.
Experiment. I think experimenting with how you layer up can create so many different looks using the same pieces. I mean, take a big scarf, you can wear it wrapped around your neck, like a blanket, like a cape or just draped over you as an accessory. Same with coats or different jumpers, there's so many ways to style them that will create a bunch of different looks. It also saves money, I mean who has money to buy capes, blankets and scarves? Just buy one and experiment.
2.
Make the layers the focus point. I find that I can get bored with outfits really quickly, especially plain ones, so by layering I make them a bit more interesting. You can do this by taking a plain outfit, like a jumper and jeans and then add a bright layer and it transforms the look. You can have one key piece, like my orange scarf, and add it to a neutral outfit, it just adds a pop of colour and makes everything a bit more interesting.
3.
Chose easy pieces. By this I mean, dont wear a huge, bulky jumper, a coat with a hood and then try and add a bunch of interesting layers. I think adding a lot of simple pieces creates a better look. I also tend to layer with this boyfriend blazer because it doesn't have a hood, this means I can add cute collars and bulkier scarves without getting all bundled up and everything getting caught together.
4.
Have fun!! Layering is fab for cold days but it can also be a bit of fun. I like to get different pieces and mix up my usually wardrobe; for example, prints and textures. I love these mittens from Topshop, they have a string, like you used to have in toddler clothes, and it makes everything look so cute. I find that is much easier to be a bit out there with accessories, instead of the full outfit, so I add fun, quirky pieces in the mix of a normal outfit.
Hope you enjoyed this post! What's your favourite way to layer?
I absolutely love Autumn and Winter fashion. You can play with so many different types of clothing. It's so much fun to do. I have few of my favorite peaces that I like to combine with sweater, jumpers and boots. I actually have similar hat to yours and I love to wear it so much. Amazing post, really enjoyed it. xo
